I read a Denver newspaper online. Increasingly, I see articles about pot–a mixture of regulatory news, health scares about eating potent marijuana cookies, and feature articles. Earlier this week someone stole a whole load of legal pot plants. Now: recipes to satisfy the munchies.
The Denver Post has a direct link to the Cannabist, a free online newsletter about pot. This morning, in the Cannabist column I read, “Hummus is a great stoner food — it’s healthy and it tastes so great that you can kind of go crazy and not feel like you ate a whole chocolate cake.” The author shares a nice hummus recipe.”
I find this amusing. I am still not quite adjusted to the legal pot culture. I am surprised when I see casual articles in mainstream media. However, it is not any different than articles about wine. I have read many articles about wine and food pairings, so I don’t know why the pot articles strike my funny bone.
I don’t spend too much time worrying about legal marijuana, but I do wonder about the long term effects and find it interesting to follow. So far the only effect up here, about 80 miles north of the CO border: local law enforcement frequently pulls over folks driving back from Colorado with a load of pot. They get booked into our county jail and put quite a work load on the system. Wyoming wants to make sure that people realize pot is not legal here, no matter where you buy it!
