Expanding on the simple backpack carried by most school kids, David Fischer changed life for people who must carry their daily cooking and drinking water. His newly designed PackH2O allows a person to carry 5 gallons of water and keep it clean en route.
Fischer developed the backpack after watching women in Haiti carry water in dirty cans, sometimes even cans that once contained agricultural chemicals. As CEO of an industrial packing plant, he decided to use his expertise to design and produce the backpack.
How do you follow on that amazing act of compassion? According to CSmonitor.com,
“Despite the success of the PackH2O, Fischer’s mission is far from over. Close to 1 billion people still live far from the nearest source of clean water, and many carry water long distances. With a need that large, he says, more needs to be done.
Moving forward, he plans to work on creating opportunities for entrepreneurs in emerging markets to manufacture and sell the PackH2Os themselves, extending the distribution of the product while providing employment opportunities at the same time.”
