Most people think that all dogs are natural swimmers. Not true. My dog, Tango, hates the water and will only dog paddle if he absolutely must. He prefers to sort of glom onto me– he expects me to carry him out of the water. So, what about dog safety on the water?

I purchased a doggie life vest for our inflatable boat adventures. I ordered a large for some reason and it was huge. I returned it, and today the new size medium arrived: it is a perfect fit for him. He let me put it on him and even posed for photos.

I hope to get out in a few days to try the boat again. I may drag him into the water with the life vest on so he can get a feel for it. Crazy spoiled dog.
