So, time to discuss clothes and how to pack in a popup camper. If you have decided that I am not one to pack light, your suspicions will be confirmed when you see my clothes. Yes, my backpacking, tent camping and van camping days are long gone.
Here is the main photo of my clothes, which I will explain. Men, you may want to skip this, I don’t want anyone to faint when they count my shoes and realize that ten pairs appear in the following photos.
Pile one: exercise capris, t-shirts, sweat shirt, tennis shoes, as shown below
Pile Two: everyday camping clothes, including shorts, t-shirts, hoodie, camp shoes
Third pile: jeans, jean jacket, Oxford shirts, shoes, which I wear in layers while traveling
Fourth pile, green and coral stuff: nicer clothes for museum stops or whatever. Also, a nice slinky black top for who knows what!!
Can’t go anywhere without black Mary Jane’s
Dark pile: two pairs sweat pants and two long underwear shirts (wearing one set now, so nice and cool up here), and beat up winter camp shoes
Pile to right, not on bed: jammies, a mix of summer and flannel jammies, although I may end up sleeping in sweats if nights stay this cool. No separate photo of those!
Now, the packing part. The jeans, jean jacket, etc goes into a black duffel and stays in the van for those nights when I sleep there and/or need a change of clothes.
The nicer clothes go into an interesting pillow case. It is for a larger bed pillow and opens in the back, revealing two compartments.

Nicer clothes and shoes in large pillow case, folded over.
Jammies and undies in another pillowcase
Shoes go in another pillow case
Why pillowcases? My clothes will all go into one of the “bench” storage bins in the camper.

Voila! It may be a lot of clothes but they all fit in one bin and the one duffel that stays in the van. Did you find all 10 pairs of shoes? Another pair was on my feet. I have absolutely no remorse packing 10 pairs of shoes for a six-week trip. Should I? Oh, I forgot, I also have a pair of winter snow boots in the van in case it snows. I think I have graduated to glamping.
Sooooo, I finally left on my 6-week glamp. I am in shock, numb and/or just tired. I am up in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Since Mt Rushmore and other attractions are nearby, it’s a bit touristy. I am staying in an official RV resort, checking things out. Lots of people, lots of kids, lots of noise which is all well and good –appropriate for this place. However, I prefer out of the way and no people, and I shall have that soon. Tango is not happy about being on the lease all the time, either.
The Black Hills remind me of the high country to the west of Colorado Springs—the Florissant area mostly. However, the approach is through beautiful grasslands. I loved the drive once I hit the taller grasslands.
Tomorrow we shall explore some quieter areas around here, maybe a hike for my 60th, which is tomorrow!
Earlier tonight, I schlepped down to the shower house with my awesome towel bag. It worked fabulous. By the way, it holds a pink pair of shower shoes, so make that a total of 11. Almost forgot.
