Yesterday Tango and I skeedaddled out of the high plains in far northern Wyoming. We headed for the stunning scenery of the Big Horn Mountains.
My water tank was empty so I filled up with water in the campground using my hose and the campground drinking water. I was also certain that my propane was empty so I stopped at a Flying J in Gillette. To my surprise and delight, I used only .5 gal (4+ gal tank). The nice guy didn’t charge for the small refill. I discovered that Flying J has water that campers can use to fill the water tanks. So, in one stop I can obtain water, propane, fuel for the van, snacks, and walk Tango!
About 50 miles outside Gillette, I spotted the snow-capped Bighorns, a most welcome sight. Coolness ahead, At Buffalo we started the uphill climb into that cool country, heading towards a specific dispersed camping area where I have camped before.
Peaks in the Cloud Peak Wilderness, smoky, hazy air

I am still in the area that I call my home terrain. My geographical region is big. The entire length of I -25 (southern New Mexico to northern Wyoming) cuts right through the middle. Another man-made boundary: the Mountain Time Zone up to where I am now, at the terminus of I-25, which now merges into i-90.
The terrain seems to vary widely: rolling high plains, deserts, snow-capped peaks. However, they overlap in the most interesting ways and in the most unexpected places. More on that later. For now, I have moved from Ponderosa Pine forested lands to Douglas Firs/Aspen mixed woodlands.
People noise is minimal but the animals are a noisy bunch. Common Ravens scream all day. I hear noises deep in the forest behind the camper.Deer enter our meadow right at sunset, and I saw the butt end of a possum while out wandering. Butterflies and other flying critters abound and wildflowers are still blooming in the high country.
This morning, Tango and I drove over to a small alpine lake.
I set up my office in the Day Use area (no Internet)
Office
We had visitors at the office
Horses through the trees, center
After I worked a while, I was stiff and needed to stretch. I converted my desk to a stretching place
Stretch!
Sciatic Stretch owwwwww
The afternoon high was around 80 degrees and it cooled down fast. Perfect. Came down to Buffalo this evening to get some Internet service, groceries, and check in with people who might be worried. All is well; however, I will only travel down here more than every few days, so don’t worry…OK?
