Tango and I have been on the road two days. I changed my mind about Idaho because of all the fires. So, last night we pulled over in Bozeman, MT–a beautiful small city. Today, after lots of back roads, including through Cody, WY, we ended up in Ten Sleep, WY in the western foothills of the Big Horn Mountains.
Earlier today, I checked out a camping place near Cody, but mosquitoes swarmed over Tango and then me when we got out of the van. No good.
Next, I headed back towards the Bighorn Mountains–too much smoke in lower lying areas. At the tiny town of Ten Sleep I saw a cute RV park with tall trees. I kept going, but after a few miles, I decided on a whim to turn around and check it out. I have always wanted to check out Ten Sleep, but I never get over to this side of the Big Horns. Turns out, there is a Bluegrass festival in Ten Sleep this weekend and they just had a cancellation at the RV park! Four nights are pricey, but I get full hookups and free showers, always nice, especially after roughing it up in N. Montana bear country. So…here I stay, at least four nights since I prepaid! The park is next door to the fairgrounds, which has a track where Tango and I walked.
I am positioning myself so I am not too far from home and the State Fair in Douglas. I am in the Wyoming Author’s booth there next Thurs, Fri, Sat (Aug.14, 15, 16) I will stop by home and pick up my books and something nicer to wear! I will still have one week of sabbatical left after that!
All is well. Pooped out at this point. Tango is snoozing and I plan on an early night myself. Bluegrass tomorrow! Here is link to festival and the musicians.
