The yard sale was fun, but I am so happy it’s over! Despite a busy week, I completed all the advance work: radio announcement, signs, change. Friday evening I set up out on the lawn and arranged furniture inside.I awoke 6 AM on Saturday morning to finish setting up.
My goal was to get rid of 75% of my belongings. I sold a great deal, but still have furniture left over. Tomorrow I will list them on the local Facebook Trading Post.

Happy shopper, she spent about $80
Afterwards, I took the camper to Glendo Reservoir for a two-night fall camping trip. The weather was perfect, 70 degrees during the day and mid-40s at night. The first evening everything hurt from the yard sale and then setting up the camper. I read and crochet into the late night. Tango parked himself right in the middle of the bedding, as close as possible to the heater without being off the bed. I woke early and watched the sun rise while still in bed. The sun lit up the changing cottonwoods. I absolutely love all the camper windows.
I decided to sleep on the bed inside the camper (converted dinette area), which is close to the heater. I put up a curtain across the far bunk end to keep the space inside a bit warmer.Cozy, cozy, cozy! This winter I plan to modify the curtains, making them heavier, for winter camping.
The heater vent is below the stove top, near the floor. The curtain keeps heat from dissipating too fast. I miss the banner that goes across like a valance, but this is more functional for colder weather.
Both days Tango and I walked for miles along the nearly empty reservoir. The water is slowly released for irrigation and, by the end of the summer, water levels are extremely low. I love walking along the water’s edge, which is impossible in the spring.
Low reservoir:
The first dock that we found was still in the water
Tango walking down the boat ramp towards the only dock still in the water
Fishermen took advantage of the access
We found another dock that was high and dry
Pumping out trapped water
Usually I see lots of migrating birds. Nothing this weekend but seagulls. Geese gathered loudly in the morning then took off.
Lots of detritus uncovered after water receeds
I noticed that Tango stopped walking and was staring off into the distance, sniffing. That is a sure sign that he has spotted wildlife. I looked in the same direction and found a deer:
A four-wheeler zoomed around the corner, near us. High water line visible in the distance.
I felt comfy and at home in our fall campsite. No one else was camping so, except for the fishermen, we had the place to ourselves. The blue sky and bright sun helped the solar panel to keep the battery charged and the wind took a break for a few days. Perfect.
