My first “try out” Sunday went well. I love the people I have met and the town. Tango and I have walked all over and he seems to approve too. Snow geese are still here and lots of other birds passing through.
So where I am I? A few hints:
- People are big football fans, some even Bronco fans
- This area is a world class birding site, esp for waterfowl
- Great fishing
- No visible mountain peaks
- The state is not a national political hot spot so they don’t have lots of political ads.
- Before I arrived here for a visit, it was only one of two states (mainland US) that I had never visited. The other state is not far, so I will complete my “visit every state” goal soon.
- 98% of the land is used for agriculture
- The state has more wildlife refuges than any other
- The capital city is about the size of Cheyenne, but it one of the fastest growing cities in the US.
It was painful watching the Broncos loss last week, and I had intense feelings of missing Denver and my son. I suppose that will happen for a while, and flying to Denver is no big deal when I need a Kerry fix.
