What a whirlwind. On Sunday, I picked up my U-Haul (near Wheatland) and friends helped me load up. I pulled out of town by about 2:30 PM. It is now Monday night, and I am in Pierre, SD for the night. Tomorrow I have only 177 miles left. Then, unload. However, since the parsonage is being re-carpeted and painted, everything will go in garage. I will still be in the basement bedroom.
I probably could have driven in tonight, but the last leg is on a dark, two-lane road that I don’t know. The winds are howling and snow is blowing. Also, it is Monday Night Football. I already missed all of Sunday Football.
The 20 foot U-Haul is easy to drive. The cab is like my van, but bigger. Same heater controls, etc. I am pleasantly surprised. I don’t really feel like I am driving a 20-foot truck. Driving my camper has given me a great deal of confidence.
Travel has been decent, yet cold. Freezing cold. Below zero cold.I saw quite a few pheasant as I headed towards Pierre. I talked to Tango’s sitter and they are having a great time. Can’t wait to be reunited with my furry friend tomorrow. Miss that little guy and dislike traveling without him.
Even though the house is not finished, I can start to feel at home, now. Promise to have pics soon! Can’t wait to put up my bird feeders tomorrow and see who comes by.
