In the months leading up to my 60th birthday (this past July), I was anxious and unsettled. I dreaded getting so old, and these feelings contributed to some big changes in my life.
Now, 6 months later, and I am all settled in. I have much to look forward to with my son becoming engaged. I have treasured old friends and now new friends. Sixty does not seem so bad.
All transitions are easier when you know that others are going through them too! Here are some famous ones who also turned sixty this year:
- Ron Howard
- Patty Hearst
- Christi Brinkley
- John Travolta
- Rock and Roll ( Bill Haley’s Rock Around the Clock, recorded in April 1954, is generally recognized as starting the Rock and Roll craze)
- Jerry Seinfiled
- Sonia Sotomayor
- Al Roker
- Condaleeza Rice
- Annie Lennox
- Denzel Washington
Sixty–and the path to 61 is just fine because:
- Son engaged to incredible woman, Meghan
- Healthy, great health care
- Spiritually at peace
- Great new church
- Wonderful new people to share the journey with
- New terrain to explore
- New birds to identify
- Loyal dog, Tango
- Kindle books to read
- Craft room all set up
- Books gelling in my brain
- Days are getting longer–camping season not far off
