All the big guys and gals are doing it: updating their website layout for 2015. CNN looks so spiffy. And how about that new look at High Country News (high elevation news, not marijuana ramblings)? I am hoping that the Huffington Post follows soon.
One of the website features I love the best at other sites is a photo slide show at the top of all the content. I have now added one to Jane’s Journals and promise to change the photos now and then, perhaps reflecting the season. I purchase photos for the slider to keep them a higher quality than what I take with my basic camera.
After years of blogging, many people start allowing retailers and other businesses to place product ads on their website. I am committed to remaining ad-free, since I stop reading blogs and other web sites that bombard me with advertising. I especially dislike pop-up ads. However, I am a big fan of Amazon and they have worked hard to allow bloggers to create a “pass-through” to their site and/or to create customized stores with products that appeal to the web site’s readers (niche stores). All sales made through affiliate sites, like Janesjournals are completely confidential–I have no idea what you buy or access to financial information. The sales process at the Amazon secure site. In return for setting up the store, JanesJournals receives a small commission from each sale.
Now, my store/marketplace is not a random collection of junk. My commitment is to buy and offer Trade, eco-friendly, and organic when possible. The problem is the time it takes to find these things. My collections make shopping for good, healthy products easier for you and me. Yesterday I purchased Fair Trade Coffee through the Valentine’s Marketplace. Since I am an Amazon Prime member, I will receive that coffee in 2-days. Kind of nice since I am running out of coffee and am home bound due to high winds and blowing snow.
Otherwise, Jane’s Journals is the same as ever- my take on life and culture, my adventures, and gardening (soon).
Thanks for reading and many thanks to those who shop Amazon through Jane’s Journals.
P.S. I am working on this awful gray font color! Sounds easy but I may have to call someone to help since the font color is built into this format.
