My first big camping trip in North Dakota starts in a few days. I head up to Minot, ND for minister meetings, then along the border to Lake Metigoshi and the Peace Gardens. I hope to get in some good blogs!
Minot is about 4 hours north of me and is even colder than southern North Dakota, where I live. It has an interesting history, including a role in alcohol smuggling across the border. Another bit of trivia about Minot: it is near the terminus of US 83, a famous road that goes from the Mexican border to the Canadian border.
I will only stay there two nights, and will attend our regional annual conference at the UCC church. Next year the meeting is in Winnipeg…so excited about that too.
After the meetings, I head north, then east about 100 miles, to Lake Metigoshi State Park. I am splurging on a site for the popup that has electricity! Uptown.
One of my day trips is to Peace Gardens, which is in the US and Canada. Better remember the Passport!
I leave Thursday, noonish and return June 13-quite a nice R&R. I have a retired minister covering for me. Temps won’t be higher than the 70s during the day–perfect camping weather.
I will write more from the road.
