Blogging has a cathartic component. I love to confess my deepest darkest secrets to all the world. One of my first true confessions: I love instant mashed potatoes and dehydrated hash browns. They are especially wonderful while camping. I now dehydrate my home-grown taters, that’s how much I love them. When I cook them I add my own dehydrated onions and jalapenos. They are a few notches above the store-bought versions.
I was teased mercilessly after confessing to instant potatoes, which added to the fun of confessing. So, here is more fodder for the teasers, first thing Monday morning: I love powdered peanut butter. I discovered this for camping- it is lightweight, convenient. Even my dog loves it. Since, I learned to add it to other foods for more protein at home. This morning, for example, I added the powdered PB to my oatmeal. Mmmmm. chocolate goodness for breakfast, and lots of protein.
I usually buy the PB2 at Amazon. The local grocery just began to carry Jif Chocolate PB powder. I bought it a few times and its okay. PB2 is better and I do not trust Jif, but this brand is locally available. I only buy at Amazon if the local store does not carry what I need.
I am enrolled in a Diabetes and Heart Disease Prevention Program. The group meets once a week with a dietician and one of the recommended substitutions for high fat peanut butter is PB2. Had a sample last week – not bad and would certainly be convenient on a camping trip.
Good to know as I watch fat and carbs. PB2 is great in oatmeal, pancake batter, all kinds of stuff! Thanks for sharing.
