Bang….that is the sound of my imaginary starting gun. The race to Christmas begins. My track does not involve Black Friday – I live too far from stores and malls. However, Small Business Saturday is big in a small town, and I will walk to the local stores tomorrow.
The sound I hear calls me to lots of work. In the upcoming weeks: decorating church, youth serve lunch on Santa Day, two baptisms, arranging for Advent candle lighters, Confirmation Class, Christmas programs, special music, and much more. I started a few weeks ago, but the delightful season overtakes my life TODAY! Thankfully, I had my walks in the Autumn woods and am refreshed.
As always, this will affect my blogging time, but I will write often-ish. I will be on the lookout for old-fashioned American tradition, which is abundant in my small, isolated town. Gotta go for now….the race begins.
Our Christmas starts next Friday with Handel’s Messiah in the beautiful Bath Abbey. An annual ritual for us and a wonderful way to start the festive season.
Wow! How lucky. May you have the merriest Christmas!
Thanks for that. I needed a little kick (or bang) to get me started. Happy times are ahead!
