We headed west on I-90: Flying Cloud, Blue Moon, Tango, 1 potted red geranium, 1 pot of mint, and me! The family is growing.
It felt so good to be on the road again. We only traveled 12 miles, however, which was the plan. I can’t stay in my friend’s driveway for more than 30 days (city code) so I had to make some decisions. I truly love my job in the plant department (more on that later) so I decided to get a spot in a shady RV park, half way between CdA and Spokane. I am right on the Idaho border, spitting distance to WA (and that Cabela’s I mentioned before).
Unlike my massive move from ND, when I got rid of most of my possessions, this move was SIMPLE. I started at 8:30 AM, following these steps:
- put breakables in tub or wedged in under the dinette
- pick up Tango’s water bowls
- close vent in bathroom
- unhook utilities
- put geranium and mint in the van
- hook up camper and van
- secure weight distribution bars and sway bar
- attach safety chains, brake cord, and lights
- secure outside step (thanks JC)
- drive a few blocks to I-90 (Exit 15)
- exit I-90 (Exit 2)
- put some air in Blue Moon’s tires so they won’t go flat
- drive a short distance to park.
One I arrived, the steps were basically the reverse: hook up utilities, set up the breakable stuff and bathroom again, then:
- turn on refrig, hot water heater, etc
- set out plants
- fill Tango’s water bowls.
- connect to the park WiFi
The whole operation of hooking, moving, unhooking, and everything else took 2 hours. Not bad.
My newest town: Post Falls, ID. It is really an extension of CdA, almost like a suburb. My job in CdA is not far, and this will be my mailing address for now. I will get my driver’s license here as well. I am domiciling. Oh my!!!
All is well. Besides a call and gift from my son (and text from DIL), I also got a free Mother’s Day ice cream cone at McDonald’s. Life is good.
