From 95+ degrees Monday to 51 degrees and rainy on Friday. I don’t know if this is the normal pattern up here, but I like it. Not too long in any one situation. Hot is good, rain is good, but excessive amounts of either is a bummer.
I wake up early and can hear the swisshy rain sounds. I pull the blankets up and snuggle down deeper, listening. The camper is cozy, warm. Tango jumps up and I scratch him behind the ears. Ahhhh. He loves a lazy, chilly rainy morning too.
I finally make some coffee and wonder what would be the best choice for this rainy day. The library! Sit in the comfortable chairs and do school work, paper work and some writing. On the way out I stop in the used bookstore within the library and find 2 books to take home. Total cost, $1, which fits in my new budget.
Why is a rainy day inherently cozy, a day for reading a new book and drinking tea? For many of us it means a day indoors, out of the usual routine. A rancher or others who work outdoors may not have the luxury of a lazy, rainy day, but those of us who can stay indoors will enjoy the diversion. In fact, I just overhead someone else say, “I just love a rainy day”.
Diversion, indoors, reading, cozy, tea. It doesn’t appeal to everyone but I am happy. For the rainy evening tonight, cooking dinner for a friend and playing dominoes!
“Rain is grace. Rain is the sky descending to the earth. Without rain there
would be no life” John Updike
I want to be there!!
Wish you were here!
Wonderful quote by John Updike. He is so right! I love a rainy day also, especially if it is summer. Winter rainy days are quite different here—cold and windy!
Thanks!
