Edward Abbey has been gone since the late 1980s. He was then and is still an important voice about lands in the west. Some of his books are iconic, like Desert Solitaire and the Monkey Wrench Gang. He voiced early concerns about development and mining in the west – especially the Red Rock Country of Utah – and seemed to have a crystal ball back then.
Kathleen Dean Moore, in her book Great Tide Rising, (excepted at Earth Island Journal ) asked my deceased hero questions from today and then answered them for him, using a collage of his words from the past. This “interview” is so clever. It helps if you are familiar with Abbey but even if you are not, you can appreciate his insights, even from the grave. Click Equal Parts Anger and Love to read the clever interview that captures all of Abbey.
