What does someone do when they are tired of snow and terrible weather, yet the forecast calls for more? How do you cope when your car and van are buried and there is no hope of getting them out or having safe streets for at least several more days? What do you do when you are sitting in an RV and the snow load on the roof will get heavier and heavier as it thaws and re-freezes over the next 14 days.
My first instinct is to just live in denial. No one’s RV roof has collapsed so far. Yesterdays horrible storm – the third of many more to come – produced only 3 more inches of snow instead of another foot. Besides, the weather forecasters are just having some fun, toying with us, making Squimites squirm at the thought of more and more cloudy, grey days where the sky spits out rain, snow, or a combination. Right? Isn’t the upcoming weather forecast some kind of joke?

No! It is not a joke. Hopefully, the forecast will be wrong, but it is not a joke. Rain and snow showers for the next 14 days.
I have friends asking me the obvious: if I am having second thoughts about wintering on the Olympic Peninsula in Western Washington. Yes and no. Winter has been harsher than I expected, but this is a record year, and it does not mean every year will be like this. I am willing to try it again next year. The only thing I regret is not taking off for AZ and SoCAL in February. You can bet I will be doing that next year! Locals had told me that Feb was the worst month, but I did not take them seriously. I won’t be caught here again in Feb, sitting under a few feet of snow on my RV roof. I would go right now, in fact, but I cannot get out. Maybe if I can get the van dug out in a few days?
