Sitting here reading this morning….finally a truly wonderful spring day. The lawn mowers worked their magic yesterday and life feels good. Was it really snowing last week?
I heard also a most welcome sound–kids outdoors! A bunch were walking by towards town and making a kid ruckus. I found the sound as wonderful as the returning Meadowlarks or a summer evening breeze. Kids are outdoors. Computers, gaming devices, and I-Pads turned off. I need to follow suit.
I wonder if my appreciation of the kid noise comes from watching the 1995 movie version of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn? I loved seeing my favorite book as a movie. Huck reminds me that kids are special. The kids outdoors remind me that kids are special.
Or maybe, my appreciation comes from talking to my grown son last night. After we talk, I always find myself remembering the “old days”.
I don’t have a lot of kids in my life, but the future belongs to them and I hope my generations leaves an enduring legacy.
